As of 22:37, reports indicate that 27 people have died, and 91 have been injured following a recent Russian attack in Kyiv. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in an evening address, condemned Russia for intentionally targeting residential buildings and civilian infrastructure, aiming to cause maximum harm and instill terror within the population.

Zelenskyy stated, “Russia no longer has any other argument for its war besides its ballistic attacks, such terrorism. [Illegitimate President of Russia, Vladimir] Putin continues to target residential buildings to avoid ending this war. This can be countered with sufficient supplies of anti-ballistic systems and significantly faster development of such systems in Europe.”

Furthermore, he acknowledged the efforts of Ukrainian air defense forces, which have intercepted dozens of missiles and hundreds of drones, while admitting a shortage of air defense systems, particularly those capable of countering ballistic threats.

Context

  • According to the Ukrainian Air Forces, the occupiers launched 74 rockets and 496 drones of various types at Ukraine on the night of July 2. Air defense units shot down 48 missiles and 476 drones.
