A Yakut woman wanted 3.3 million rubles for horses torn to pieces by dogs, but the court accused her herself

A resident of Yakutia tried to sue the local administration for a large sum for two mares that were killed by stray dogs. However, the trial did not end in her favor – the court came to the conclusion that the woman herself was to blame for what happened. KP-Yakutia writes about this.
One horse died at the barn in February 2023, the second in June of the same year. The market value of the carcasses was estimated at 225 thousand rubles. But the woman demanded much more – 3.3 million rubles in lost profits. She explained that the animals could live up to 25 years and produce 44 foals, each of which could be sold for 75 thousand. In court, such calculations were called too approximate and rejected.
During the investigation, it turned out that the first mare was immobilized by the stallion's bite before the attack, and the second was grazing in a place not intended for this. As a result, the court ruled: for the death at the barn, the administration will pay the full cost – 105 thousand rubles, and for the second horse – only half of 120 thousand, that is, 60 thousand.
“The plaintiff, as the owner, was obliged to ensure the safety of the livestock and not allow it to remain unattended on the territory that is not a pasture,” the joint press service of the courts of Yakutia emphasized. The lower decision was later confirmed by the Supreme Court of the Republic, rejecting the appeals of both sides.
