England won 3-0, without shining, the friendly against Costa Rica, the last one before the start of the final tournament.

The start of the match was delayed an hour, due to the storm that descended on the stadium in Orlando. Thomas Tuchel sent the best eleven on the field and this was immediately seen on the scoreboard. Declan Rice changed it in the 9th minute, after which, however, the game of the representative “Three Lions” left much to be desired.

John Terry: “To win a World Cup you need the best players”

It was only after an hour of play, when the England coach made several changes, that the English recovered and Barcelona's new acquisition, Gordon, made it 2-0 from a penalty (min. 68). Ollie Watkins set the final score in the 87th minute, England – Costa Rica 3-0, but the specialists turned their noses up at the end.

John Terry

Former England international John Terry again criticized Tuchel for leaving several stars, such as Cole Palmer and Phil Foden, at home. “He made three, four wrong choices. If you want to go far in a World Cup, you need the best players. England only have 13 to 15 such footballers and among them are missing some who you can really compete with in the upper stages of the competition“, pointed out the former captain of Chelsea.

Rafael Van der Vaart: “Noni Madueke and Eze are overrated”

And former Dutch international Rafael van der Vaart highlighted, in turn, one of England's weak links. After Noni Madueke sent the ball over the bar with an empty net, he put the Arsenal player on the wall.

“When I look at the England squad, Madueke and Eze seem overrated. Madueke is not even a starter at Arsenal. He seems to me an ok player, but he comes after a mediocre season”, commented Van der Vaart.

England will move into training camp in Kansas City on Saturday. And at the final tournament, he will make his debut on June 17, at 23:00, Romanian time, against Croatia, a match from Group L, which also includes the representatives of Ghana and Panama.
