On June 9, the United States launched an attack on Iran. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported this on social network X.
“U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces began conducting self-defense strikes against Iran at 5:00 pm ET today on orders from the Commander in Chief in response to yesterday's downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter. The mission is a proportionate response to unjustified Iranian aggression,” the press service noted.
US President Donald Trump announced on the social network Truth Social a possible attack on Iran as a response to the Iranians downing an American Apache helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz.
The head of the White House informed that the incident occurred during a patrol. Although the pilots remained “safe and unharmed,” Trump noted that “the United States certainly must respond to this attack.”
Earlier in the day, before the official announcement of the downing of the Apache, the American president said that an agreement to end the war in Iran could be reached in “two or three days” and that the Strait of Hormuz would be opened “immediately” after the agreement was concluded.
