The former Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal forward was arrested for drink driving after crashing his Lamborghini. Sterling, who has 82 caps for England, was stopped by police after driving his car into the barriers on the M3.
Hampshire Police issued a statement on Thursday, according to The Mirror: “Shortly before 9am on Thursday we received reports that a Lamborghini had collided with barriers on the M3 southbound near the Minley junction. No other vehicles were involved and no injuries were reported.”
“The driver, a 31-year-old man from Berkshire, was arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle under the influence of drugs, dangerous driving, possession of a Class C drug and refusing to provide biological evidence. He has been released on bail while our investigation continues,” the statement added.
Raised by QPR, Raheem Sterling was bought by Liverpool in 2010. The Englishman impressed during his time at “Anfield”, and in 2015 he was bought by Manchester City for the sum of 64 million euros.
After 7 seasons at the Etihad, Sterling was bought by Chelsea for 56 million euros.
The Englishman ticked off two seasons for Chelsea before being loaned out to Arsenal without impressing.
Returning to Chelsea, Sterling was no longer accepted by Enzo Maresca, and was later transferred to Feyenoord, free of contract.
Sterling has 11 trophies under his belt, all with Manchester City: 4 Premier League titles, one FA Cup, 5 FA League Cups and one FA Super Cup.
