“They followed me into the toilet. 'Well, what are you doing at this game?!'”

Dorin Goian, central defender with 60 caps for the national team, now a coach, recounted, live on GSP Live, a tense moment from a derby Dinamo FCSB lived as a spectator.

Goian reports that the episode happened right before an action of the national team, several years ago.

He received an invitation from Victor Pițurcă, the selector of the “tricolors” at that time, and went to the National Arena to see Dinamo – FCSB with a friend. He had a ticket to stand 1 and did not escape a conflict with the red-white fans.

  • Goian was an important stopper of Romanian football in the last 20 years. Champion with FCSB, a team with which he played in the Champions League groups, former player at Palermo or Rangers, Dorin has 60 selections in the Romanian national team, including matches at Euro 2008.

  • Now he's a coach; the last time he prepared Cetatea 1932 Suceava.

Dorin Goian, tense moment on the National Arena, at a Dinamo – FCSB derby: “5-6 Dynamo players entered the toilet after me”

“I had an experience at a match between Dinamo and FCSB. I had come to the national team, with nea Piti. I had returned to Bucharest on Sunday, the reunion was on Monday. I went to Mogoșoaia on Sunday afternoon, where I had a workout. There were about 4-5 players who came earlier.

Nea Piti asked us if we wanted tickets to the Dinamo – FCSB derby. If I was still in Bucharest, I went. I had nothing else to do. The others went out around town, we weren't in the camp program yet, we were free.

Nea Piți gave me two invitations to stand I, at the National Arena. I called a relative from here, from Bucharest, to invite him to the match, I had parking, of course. I parked the car nicely and went to the stand. I said that I'm still sitting in stand I, where there are different people, I'm not on the lawn to be picked up…

At halftime of the match, I go to the toilet. After me, a group of about 5-6 dynamists enters. They had also come, they had some needs. They saw me, one “set fire”: “Well, what are you doing here in the stadium, at this match?!”. He started picking me up and putting me through the fridge… It was all quick, it took 15-20 seconds. I pissed off everyone else so much that at one point there were about 6 around me. I had already entered the guard, I had prepared: “That's it”, is the episode experienced by Dorin Goian.

Fortunately, the incident did not escalate: “My luck was that there was a steward in the area and he had heard that something was happening in the toilet, that the tone had risen. He went in, after which another quickly came and the spirits calmed down, I went back to the stand. I was just a simple spectator, I had already left Steaua for about 3 years”.

Dorin Goian, before the Dinamo – FCSB tie: “There is no favorite”

Asked about the “final” of tomorrow's Conference League tie, Dinamo – FCSB, Dorin Goian could not name a favorite.

  • Dinamo – FCSB – single leg for a place in the Conference League qualifications – takes place on Friday, from 20:30, at the “Arcul de Triumf” stadium. To get here, the team coached by Marius Baciu defeated FC Botoșani, score 4-3 at the end of extra time.

“From my point of view, there is no favorite. I saw FCSB's match against FC Botoșani and we all see that they have problems, they are not what they should be. It will be a very difficult, tight match, a derby.

Also, the stakes are very high, it's the final for the Conference League. I'd like to say FCSB is the favorite, but I don't think so.

And Dinamo, in the play-off, had a point from which it went into some regression. They were very good in the regular championship, they won a lot of matches, but in the play-off there was a drop in form, unfortunately,” added Goian, 45 years old.
