FC Barcelona took a decisive step for his transfer Anthony Gordonand the Catalans have already reached an agreement with Newcastle United to move the English winger.
The news comes less than 24 hours after sporting director Deco was spotted in London, with speculation initially that the visit was linked to a possible move for Joao Pedro from Chelsea.
Journalist Ben Jacobs claims, however, that the Barcelona official's real target was Anthony Gordon, and negotiations have been successfully completed. Thus, the Catalans will benefit from the services of the English international.
The medical visit has already been scheduled
According to the same source, Anthony Gordon's medical is already scheduled for this week and the transfer is considered only a matter of time.
However, it remains unclear what will happen to Marcus Rashford, on loan from Manchester United to Barcelona and who has a purchase option of around 30 million euros.
The Catalans are in full process of offensive reconstruction after parting with Robert Lewandowski, the Polish striker reaching the end of his contract.
That is precisely why Deco went to England for direct negotiations, and the move now looks very close to completion. Barcelona will pay around 80 million euros plus bonuses for the English international.
Also, mercato specialist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the transfer with the famous “Here we go!“.

Anthony Gordon even impressed Barcelona in the Champions League
The 25-year-old Englishman had an excellent season at Newcastle and caught the eye even in the direct duels with Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.
Anthony Gordon has faced FC Barcelona three times in the current UEFA Champions League season. He scored in the first duel, lost by Newcastle with 1-2, came off the bench in the 1-1 draw, and then was the starter in the spectacular match that ended 2-7, a result that led to the elimination of the “cotofenes”.
Newcastle are doubling their investment
The international called up by Thomas Tuchel for the 2026 World Cup can play both on the left and right wing or in central attacking positions. This is one of the reasons why Hansi Flick agreed to the transfer.
Newcastle United bought Gordon from Everton in 2023 for around €46 million. Now the English are about to collect almost double.
In the shirt of Newcastle United, Anthony Gordon collected 152 games, 39 goals and 28 assists. In the last season, the English winger scored 17 goals, 5 assists and 46 appearances.
