Gael Monfils (39 years old, #221 ATP) is preparing to retire at the end of this season and organized an event on the “Philippe-Chatrier” court at Roland Garros, where several current and former tennis players participated, including Sorana Cîrstea (36 years old, #18 WTA), who is also in the last season of her career.
The French superstar received a wild-card at Roland Garros and will face his compatriot Hugo Gaston (25 years old, #120 ATP) in the first round.

On the occasion of Gael Monfils' last participation at Roland Garros, the event was organized on the “Philippe-Chatrier” arena “Gael and friends”, which was attended by his wife, Elina Svitolina, but also other active or retired tennis players, such as Sorana Cîrstea, Novak Djokovic, Richard Gasquet, Ben Shelton, Jannik Sinner, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Alexander Zverez, Belinda Bencic, Naomi Osaka, Diane Parry, Maria Sakkari, Taylor Townsend, Donna Vekic.
Several mixed doubles mini-games were organized on the court, and Sorana Cîrstea paired up with former French tennis player Richard Gasquet, against Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina.
Gael Monfils, impressive tennis career
Gael Monfils debuted on the professional circuit in 2004, and the Frenchman's best finish came in 2016, when he took 6th place. Throughout his career, Monfils won 586 matches and lost 356, earning almost $25 million in total prize money.
Monfils has won a total of 13 tournaments: Sopot in 2005, Metz in 2009, Montpellier in 2010, 2014 and 2020, Stockholm in 2011 and 2023, Washington in 2016, Doha in 2018, Rotterdam in 2019 and 2020, Adelaide 1 in 2022 and Auckland in 2025.
Gael Monfins' best Grand Slam performances were semi-finals at Roland Garros in 2008 and the US Open in 2016.
