Experts have drawn attention to the risk of health complications from the extreme heat that will be during the 2026 soccer World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada. The tournament will take place between June 11 and July 19.
The World Weather Attribution (WWA) group expressed particular concern for spectators, who could be exposed to high temperatures en route to arenas, while waiting in queues for entry or in outside fan areas.

Some stadiums will protect both players and spectators from the heat. For example, AT&T Stadium in Arlington is air-conditioned. However, the risk occurs, according to experts, especially outside the arenas themselves.
FIFA has not publicly specified what temperature value would cause a match to be postponed. As a measure to protect the players, this year's final tournament introduced three-minute hydration breaks in the middle of each half.
A FIFA spokesman said a multi-tiered model of heat measures would be in place for the duration of the tournament. If temperatures exceed the established limits, spectators will be able to bring a sealed bottle of water that they purchased before entering the arena.
The organizers will also provide shaded areas, sprinkler systems, cool buses and an extensive water distribution. The information was provided by the DPA agency.
