Gabriela Ruse (28 years old, 67 WTA) debuted with victory in the qualifications of the WTA 1000 Rome tournament, beating Oceane Dodin (29 years old, 517 WTA) in 56 minutes, score 6-1, 6-3. In the second round of the qualifications, she will meet the Austrian Sinja Kraus (24 years old, 103 WTA).
Shortly after the elimination of Irina Begu (35 years old, 184 WTA) from the qualifications of the WTA 1000 Rome tournament, Gabriela Ruse dueled with the Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin, in the inaugural round of the qualifications.

In case of a victory, Ruse will become the third Romanian from the main draw of the Rome tournament. Jaqueline Cristian (27 years old, 28 WTA) will enter the first round of the competition and will play against Beatriz Haddad Maia (29 years old, 78 WTA).
Instead, Sorana Cîrstea (36 years old, 27 WTA) will progress directly from the second round and will meet either the Polish Magda Linette (34 years old, 55 WTA) or the German Tatjana Maria (38 years old, 54 WTA).
