“Works 100% completed on the foundation, basement and first floor”

The new multipurpose hall in Craiova take shape. The works on the multifunctional arena that is being built on the site of the legendary “Tineretului” stadium and which will house the first indoor velodrome in Romania are in a straight line, and the latest images from the construction site show visible progress.
If everything will work according to plan, the new 8,000-seat hall should be ready in the summer of 2027. As a novelty, according to the information transmitted directly from the middle of the construction site by Cosmin Vasile, president of the Dolj County Council, the works on the foundation, basement and first floor have been completed in a proportion of 100%.
In place of the legendary “Youth” a multifunctional complex is being built that will cost around 75 million euros.

“The most modern multifunctional gym in Romania is taking shape more and more.
This morning, I was on the construction site of the sports complex that we are building on the site of the former Youth Stadium.
The work is progressing according to the execution schedule, and an important part of the objectives has already been completed in proportion to 100%: the foundation, the basement and the ground floor.
Work is currently underway on the main stairs, stands and walls of the arena, and the installation of pre-fab bleachers has already begun.
This project represents the largest investment in sports infrastructure made by the county administration. Upon completion, the sports complex will offer modern spaces for competitions and training dedicated to several indoor sports, including athletics and cycling, respecting the highest standards and certifications in the field,” Cosmin Vasile, president of CJ Dolj, said directly from the construction site.
The new multipurpose hall, a multifunctional complex, will be the third in the city, after the Multipurpose Hall inaugurated in 2012, and the old hall in Valea Vlăicii, “Ion Constantinescu”
In terms of sports infrastructure, Craiova can also boast of the “Ion Oblemenco” stadium inaugurated in 2017, and the athletics stadium inaugurated in 2020.
The new sports complex in Craiova will contain:

A category I velodrome, designed for a speed of 80-85 km/h;

An oval running track, 200 meters long, with 6 lanes;

A straight track, 60 meters long, with 8 lanes;

Areas for events such as high jump, triple jump, pole vault or shot put;

Changing rooms for athletes and referees;

Conference room;

Restaurant;

Strength room;

Tribune with a total capacity of 8,000 seats;

Playground;
-
A sports museum;

Administrative spaces.
