Two men from Brașov county came to the attention of the police after an incident that happened on the night of April 17 to 18, in a wooded area near the city of Victoria, where a brown bear was allegedly shot illegally. The case is being treated as poaching, and the investigation revealed that the weapon used was equipped with a thermal imaging device, a piece of equipment that is only used under strictly regulated conditions.
The two suspects, aged 37 and 24, from Victoria and Viștea, were identified shortly after the incident, following an action coordinated by the officers of the Weapons, Explosives and Dangerous Substances Service, together with officers from the Voila Rural Police Department.
Sources from the investigation show that neither of the two had a legal hunting permit, so their action was classified as poaching. According to a press release from IPJ Braşov, both the equipment used and elements of animal origin were found at the scene.
