“The Poland 2050 Parliamentary Club submitted a bill to the Sejm raising the second tax threshold from PLN 120,000 to PLN 140,000. It is a good initiative that I support. On August 11, 2025, my draft bill “PIT Zero. Family for Plus”, containing just such a solution, was submitted to the Sejm. The bill was placed in the Sejm freezer,” wrote President Nawrocki on Thursday on the X platform.

Currently, the first tax threshold for income up to PLN 120,000 is 12%, and the second tax threshold for income above PLN 120,000 is 32%.

A draft amendment to the Personal Income Tax Act prepared by MPs from Poland2050, which was submitted to the Sejm on Tuesday assumes an increase in the second tax threshold to PLN 140,000 – income up to PLN 140,000. PLN would be taxed at a rate of 12%. (minus the reducing amount of PLN 3,600), and above this amount – 32%.

According to information from the Polish 2050 club, the project aims to relieve the burden on the middle class and reduce the situation in which people with average incomes fall into a higher tax bracket, especially at the end of the year when their wages exceed the current limit.

According to Poland 2050, raising the second tax threshold to PLN 140,000. PLN would translate into real relief for people with average incomes – on average by about PLN 2,600 per year and end the situation in which additional work, overtime or bonuses result in entering a higher tax bracket and de facto “punishment” for greater professional effort.

In mid-March this year. Marshal of the Sejm Włodzimierz Czarzasty announced that two presidential bills, including the one amending the Personal Income Tax Act, have been submitted for first reading. He added that “no project is in the freezer.” (PAP)
