At the end of March, the Supreme Council of the PSL adopted a number of resolutions recommending the parliamentary club to submit several draft bills. Sawicki told PAP that one of them is a draft amendment to the Personal Income Tax Act. The bill is to be submitted to the Sejm soon.

– We want to fulfill one of the promises of the Civic Coalition and Prime Minister Donald Tusk and introduce a tax-free amount of up to PLN 60,000. PLN – said the PSL MP. He added: “We want to spread it over three years: in the first year it will be PLN 35,000, in the second year 45 thousand, and in the third year PLN 60,000.”

Sawicki noted that the project also assumes, among others, the introduction of a tax-free pension and linking the 800+ program with a tax-free amount. The People's Party MP also announced the submission of other bills, including one to block the liquidation of housing cooperatives.

Increasing the tax-free amount from PLN 30,000. PLN up to PLN 60 thousand PLN was one of the hundred items presented by the Civic Coalition before the 2023 elections. Prime Minister Donald Tusk said in May last year that the tax free amount was to be increased by the end of this term.

– This is my firm promise that by the end of this term – I won't say or next (year – PAP) – said the Prime Minister. He noted that it would depend on the deficit. – We cannot cross a certain limit because we will lose European funds (…). But the tax-free amount is not an obligation arising from this campaign, I have been talking about it for years and I am absolutely determined,” Tusk emphasized then.

At the end of July last year Minister of Finance Andrzej Domański announced that the tax-free amount of PLN 60,000 PLN will not fit in the budget for 2026. He also added that the Ministry of Finance is working to ensure that the tax-free amount of PLN 60,000 PLN entered into force. (PAP)
