Inter – Roma, a new test for Cristi Chivu in Serie A

The team from Milan leads the standings, with 69 points, and is approaching a new title, but they cannot afford wrong steps. Napoli and Milan remain in the race and can take advantage of any negative result for the leader.

On the other hand, Roma is in 6th place, with 54 points, and is fighting for qualification in the Top 4.

Although leading, Inter is going through a less convincing period. The “Nerazzurri” come after two consecutive draws, 1-1 with Fiorentina and Atalanta, and before that they lost the derby with Milan.

However, the attack remains the most efficient in the championship, with 66 goals scored.

Rome has, for its part, problems of constancy. The 1-0 win over Lecce came after two defeats in March, against Como and Genoa. Gasperini's side are doing well defensively, with only 23 goals conceded, but away results have been below expectations this season.

Ahead of the match, Cristi Chivu defended Alessandro Bastoni, who is at the center of speculation about a possible transfer: “I work with champions. Bastoni always gives more than 100% for us.

We need conviction and intensity, because it is not easy to face a team prepared by Gasperini”, declared the Romanian technician.

On the other side, Gian Piero Gasperini sent a clear message before the duel. “We're in the final sprint and we have to close ranks. The margin for error is getting smaller and smaller,”

The recent statistics are on the side of Inter, who have won four of their last five straight matches in the championship. However, Roma won the last visit to Giuseppe Meazza, in April 2025, score 1-0. In this season's round, Inter won in Rome, also 1-0, through Ange-Yoan Bonny's goal.
