A Russian Su-30 fighter jet crashed during an exercise in Crimea

The Russian Su-30 fighter jet crashed on the Crimean peninsula on Friday during a scheduled training flight, according to the Ministry of Defense in Moscow, writes state media, cited by Reuters.

The two pilots ejected and are safe, state news agency TASS reported.

The Russian Defense Ministry said the aircraft was flying without weapons when it crashed, adding that a search and rescue team on the ground had evacuated the crew members and that their lives were not in danger.

The military department did not indicate the cause of the crash, which came just days after a similar incident in the region illegally annexed by Russia.

Two days ago, an Antonov An-26 military transport aircraft crashed in the Crimean peninsula, according to Anadolu Agency.

All 29 people on board, 23 passengers and six crew members, died.
