A PSD mayor, caught stealing electricity. Descent with masks in a locality in Mureș county

More than 20 searches were carried out in Mureș County, with the police detaining three men, including the mayor of the Sânpetru de Câmpie commune, in a case concerning clandestine installations for connecting to the electricity network.

The mayor of Sânpetru de Câmpie commune, Spiru Șerban Crăciun, aged 32, was detained together with two other people, following 20 house searches carried out in a case concerning the execution or use of clandestine installations for direct connection to the electricity network, according to judicial sources.
“Following the 20 house searches carried out by the policemen of the 3rd Râciu Rural Police Section, as part of a criminal case regarding illegal connection to the network or circumvention of measuring equipment, three men, aged 32, 44 and 55, were detained for 24 hours”stated on Friday, April 3, the representatives of the Mureș County Police Inspectorate, according to Agerpres.
The action was attended by police officers from the Târgu Mureș Municipality Police, Rural Police Sections 1, 2, 4 and 5, Forensic Services, Economic Crime Investigation, Criminal Investigations and Weapons, Explosives and Dangerous Substances, as well as fighters from the Special Actions Service, together with specialists from an electricity distribution company.
The investigations continue under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor's Office attached to the Târgu Mureș Court, for the administration of all evidentiary material.
Crăciun was elected mayor from the PSD side in 2020 and retained his mandate after the 2024 election, obtaining approximately 65.5% of the vote. According to the declaration of wealth, together with his wife, he owns a house in the town and a Volkswagen van from 2008. He is the owner of three agricultural plots with a total area of approximately 44,000 square meters, as well as an inner-city plot of 3,800 square meters.
In 2023, the mayor recorded income of approximately 81,000 lei from the mayor's allowance. To these were added subsidies of about 47,000 lei from the Payments and Intervention Agency for Agriculture (APIA) and almost 310,000 lei obtained from the sale of animals.
According to the declaration of interests, Crăciun is a sole partner in two private companies, which in 2024 reported total profits of approximately 96,550 lei (86,000 lei, respectively 10,550 lei).
