Nigeria will build a gas pipeline worth USD 20 billion, through which 30 billion cubic meters will flow to Europe through Chad and Libya. natural gas per year – assured Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and Nigerian Minister of Petroleum Resources Ekperikpe Ekpo after talks with investors last weekend in London.

This initiative aims to unlock Nigeria's untapped energy resources while also solving the problem of energy insecurity in Europe.
According to the billionaire involved in this project, Roger Tamraz, president of the Saudi company Netoil, “contractors are ready to sign 20-year contracts” and all that remains is to start construction. Minister Ekpo confirmed the advancement of the project, calling the London talks historic.

Nigeria, although it is the largest gas producer in Africa, has a huge problem with its excess. Gas has been unproductively burned in wells for years because the country has limited capacity to use it for its own needs and still has poor infrastructure to pump it into the gas pipeline, even though it is among the world's leading LNG exporters.
Three years ago, Libya agreed to allow this Trans-Saharan gas pipeline to pass through its lands, which in this variant will make it more than 1,000 km shorter than if it ran alternatively through Algeria. And a bit safer, because it will bypass Niger, which is paralyzed by jihadists.
A few days before the Nigerian-British talks, the Italian energy group Eni announced the discovery of two giant gas sources off the coast of Libya. The deposits are located approximately 85 km from the coast, which means that the gas extracted from them can successfully meet both domestic demand in Libya and exports to Italy, as announced by the Italian mining company.
