Before this, a photo of a cadet posing against the background of a deceased person began to be circulated on social networks. This was reported, in particular, by the Telegram channel “Dnipro Operative | Viina”.
As the public reported, cadets were involved in the search for 14-year-old Anastasia Sitnikova, who disappeared on February 17. Her body was found in the abandoned cafe Nautilus (“Lighthouse”) near Shevchenko Park. As can be seen in the published photo, one of the cadets squatted down next to the deceased, smiled and showed a two-fingered gesture.
According to the university, those involved in the incident have already been identified. Currently, all the circumstances of the incident are being clarified and a legal assessment of the actions of the participants is underway.
“The management of the educational institution strongly condemns any manifestations of disrespect for human dignity, especially in situations involving tragedies and deaths. Such behavior is unacceptable for an applicant for education in an institution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and a future law enforcement officer,” the message says.
The interim acting rector of the DGUVD, Igor Magdalina, told Suspilny that the person involved in the scandal is a first-year cadet at the criminal police department, who “has a positive character, is a good student, goes in for sports, and participates in public events.”
“Participates in public events, volunteer activities. That is, this cadet did not have any bad deeds. And right now we are shocked, because this is a very unfortunate case. This is a shameful act, unacceptable both for a cadet and for an employee of the National Police. We condemn this fact,” Magdalena noted.
