VIDEO 'Dune: Part Three' Trailer Released Just One Day After Zendaya 'Sneak Peek'

The trailer for the movie “Dune: Part Three” was released on Tuesday, just one day after fans of the sci-fi series were able to see a clip from the production (sneak peek) with Zendaya at an event in Los Angeles, reports Reuters, according to Agerpres.
“I felt an appetite for the third film that I didn't expect”
Canadian director Denis Villeneuve has revealed he almost took a break from completing Dune: Part Three, the conclusion to his epic sci-fi trilogy, but “changed his mind after seeing how audiences embraced the first two films.”
“I felt an urge for the third film that I didn't expect,” Villeneuve said Monday in Los Angeles at a preview event for the film's trailer, which was released to the public on Tuesday.
The film, distributed by Warner Bros., will hit theaters on December 18 and is based on “Dune Messiah,” the second book in Frank Herbert's “Dune” novel series about the battle for control of the fictional planet Arrakis, a harsh desert place that contains a valuable life-extending spice.
The new trailer shows lead character Paul Atreides, played by Timothee Chalamet, and Chani, played by Zendaya, years after the first two films, as they contemplate their future as parents.
Earnings of over a billion
The first two films, released in 2021 and 2024, have collectively grossed $1.1 billion worldwide and received numerous accolades, including multiple Academy Awards.
Villeneuve describes the third film as a departure from the first two, as Paul Atreides must also consider the consequences of the power and influence he wields. The director recalled how he kept waking up at night with visions of the final part of the trilogy. “I was supposed to make another film in the meantime, but the vision kept coming back. And I said, 'Okay, let's do it.'”
In a surprise move, Villeneuve brought several cast members to the event, including Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Anya Taylor-Joy and Javier Bardem.
Zendaya reflected on how she spent her entire 20 years working on the “Dune” movies. “They have such a special place — in my heart,” the “Euphoria” actress said.
Pattinson, known for his appearances in “The Batman” and the “Twilight” film series, joins the cast as the “antagonist”, Scytale. “I absolutely adored these films – I saw them several times in cinemas,” he said.
“He's a very unusual character in the book,” added the actor. “You can't really tell whose side he's on. He's not a conventional villain — he might even be a good character. Who knows?”
Villeneuve mentioned that the final film in the trilogy will take fans to new planets in settings they haven't seen yet.
