VIDEO Dubai airport, the target of a new drone attack: Suspended flights and columns of smoke near the terminals

All flights from Dubai airport were suspended on Monday after a drone strike caused a fire at a fuel tank amid a regional conflict with Iran.

The authorities in Dubai announced that they managed to control the fire that broke out near the international airport on Monday, specifying that there were no casualties, according to Reuters, quoted by News.ro.

“A drone incident near Dubai International Airport damaged one of the fuel tanks,” the Dubai Press Office reported on the X network.

As a result of the attack, traffic was temporarily disrupted on roads and tunnels connecting the airport, police said, and Emirates Airline suspended all flights to Dubai.

Some flights have already been diverted to Al Maktoum International Airport, but authorities have not specified when flights are expected to resume.

Monday's incident is the third at Dubai airport, one of the world's busiest international transport hubs, since Iran began attacks on Gulf states on February 28. Tehran declared that these actions target the US presence in the region.

Since the beginning of the conflict, the Arab states have faced over 2,000 missile and drone attacks. Targets included US diplomatic missions and military bases, as well as key oil infrastructure in the Gulf, as well as homes and offices.
