Massimiliano Allegri (58), the coach of AC Milan, offered statements at the end victory in the derby with Inter Milanscore 1-0, from the 28th round of Serie A.
Massimiliano Allegri confirmed that Pervis Estupinan's goal was part of Milan's plan to attack weaknesses in Inter's defence. The goal sealed a 1-0 derby victory for the Rossoneri, but the coach insisted the Nerazzurri remain clear favorites for the Serie A title.
The last time the “devils” won the city derby back-to-back in Serie A was in the 2010-2011 season, also under this coach, and then they also won the title.

“Inter have a seven-point lead at the top of the table, which is a considerable advantage. They remain the strongest team and the clear favourites. We could have played better and could have been more incisive in the final third of the pitch in a few situations. We can only be happy because we kept the distance to Juventus at 10 points and Como and Roma at 9, so it was important to get a result today,” Allegri began, according to sportal.bg.
Allegri remains focused on Milan's true goal. There are ten stages left until the end of the campaign, and the difference at the top of the standings is seven points. However, the coach is adamant that the main goal must be to qualify for the Champions League, after the Rossoneri have missed out on all three European interclub competitions this season.
“We have worked for seven months to make sure we arrive in March in the best possible shape, because that's when the most important games of the season are played and everything is decided,” continued Allegri.
The Rossoneri knew this was their last chance to keep the suspense in the title race and Inter were unbeaten in Serie A since the last Milan derby on November 23. That match also ended 1-0, but this time the hero was unexpected. Estupinan decided the game from Fofana's pass.
“Luis Enrique is a very good player, but we prepared this situation in training. Before the goal there was a cross from Rabiot, which Estupinan could have reached if he had read the situation a moment earlier. Fofana did very well with this decisive pass, he also had two other important passes against Cremonese, from which we failed to score. The team is doing better,” admitted Allegri.

Milan owner Gerry Cardinale was present at the San Siro for the first time in 18 months and entered the dressing room after the final whistle to congratulate the team.
“I spoke to the team and then I left because I had to give interviews, but I'm very happy that the club and the owners congratulated the players. However, we know that we haven't achieved anything yet, so we have to keep our feet on the ground. We have to be happy with the victory, but above all to realize that it brings us 60 points and brings us one step closer to our goal,” Allegri said.
