Dorin Goian (45 years old) spoke exclusively for Gazeta Sporturilor, after FCSB to miss out on the top six. The former defender believes that a play-off without the red-blue formation will not be as spectacular.
With the victory of FC Argeș against Dinamo, with a score of 1-0, FCSB mathematically lost the qualification in the play-off, being the first time it will perform in the play-out. Dorin Goian, the former captain of the team sponsored by Gigi Becali, commented on what happened within the team.
The former Romanian international is of the opinion that the team is obliged to win the play-out, and subsequently go to the Conference League groups.

“Every team has their bad moments. Unfortunately, FCSB are in their first ever play-off failure, they need to get their act together, win the play-out and go to the Champions League.
The play-off will be poorer without FCSB, it is the team that had the best chance to qualify for the European Cups, it has the necessary experience. The fact that they are not in the play-offs is a minus for Romanian football, but we will see what the rest of the teams will do.
They, unfortunately, focused on the European cups, that was the main objective, and they woke up too late, when the situation was more difficult, and even if, so to speak, all the focus and energy was on the championship games towards the end, they did not succeed. He has to raise his head”, said Dorin Goian for Gazeta Sporturilor.
FCSB defeated UTA Arad by score, but the victory was in vain
Even though it prevailed with the score of 4-2 in Arad, the formation prepared by Elias Charalambous remained outside the play-off. FCSB missed their mathematical chances even before the match, when FC Argeș got three points with Dinamo Bucharest.
Now, in order to reach the European cups, FCSB should finish in the first two places in the play-out, and then go to the play-offs for Europe.
