Central defender Alin Toșca (33 years old) is no longer a footballer for U Cluj. Returning to the Super League in the summer, the footballer played only three matches for the team from Transylvania (239 minutes).
The separation between the two parties was amicable, according to the decision on the website of the Professional Football League.
The player has been free of contract since February 11, after the end of the mercato period in Romania.

The formation coached by Cristiano Bergodi (61 years old) did not officially announce the separation from Toșca. The announcement came on the LPF page.
“TOțCA ALIN vs. AS FC CLUJ UNIVERSITY – Termination of contractual relations. Accept the request. Declares the termination of contractual relations by agreement of the parties, starting from 11.02.2026. final“, LPF transmitted.
Toșca had made his debut for U Cluj on October 18, when the “students” lost at home to FC Botoșani, score 0-2.
Since then, he has played in two Romanian Cup matches: with Metalul Buzău, respectively Sepsi Sfântu Gheorghe, both away. The last one, the one with the Covasnenians, took place on December 4, 2025.
The footballer was part of the squad for the training camp in Turkey, but did not get a single minute in 2026 and was let go. In Romania, the stopper also performed for FCSB, Unirea Urziceni, Săgeata Năvodari and Farul.
Abroad, Alin Toșca played 115 matches for Gaziantep, 54 for Benevento, 25 for Betis, 16 for PAOK and 12 for Al-Riyadh. He is quoted by the specialized website Transfermarkt at 300,000 euros.
Alin has a title in Romania, won with FCSB in the 2014-2015 season, and one in Greece, with PAOK Thessaloniki, in the 2018-2019 season. He also won two League Cups in Romania and a Cup.
