Minaur Baia Mare missed the chance to remain the only unbeaten team in group A of the EHF European League. Joao Ferreira's team controlled a good part of the match, but Thuringer made a spectacular comeback at the end and prevailed 33-32, after a goal by Johanna Reichert, a player who will perform for Gloria Bistrita from the following season.

  • In the other Group A match, Mosonmagyarovar prevailed 31-22 over Larvik, winning both halves.

  • Two other teams from Romania played today in the EHF European League. Rapid Bucharest beat Oldenburg 34-30while Corona Brașov drew on Viborg's field: 33-33.

Minaur Baia Mare is one of the most fit teams in Romanian women's handball. Externally, the team from Maramureş debuted with two victories in the EHF European League: 28-26 vs. Larvik (away) and 34-28 vs. Mosonmagyarovar (home). Minaur Baia Mare, painful defeat in Germany, after a spectacular comeback by Thuringer

Thuringer started the home game very well, taking advantage of the offensive actions of Johanna Reichert, who scored 4 of her team's first 5 goals. Gradually, Minaur Baia Mare adjusted its defense and began to dominate in attack and take control of the game.

Alba Spugnini, who has signed an extension for two more seasons, was excellent in the semi-circle and pulled off several shots from 7 meters and clearances, while Yuliya Dumanska was brave in the visitors' goal. Therefore, at halftime, the score was 18-15 for the Maramures team.

After returning from the locker room, Minaur continued to play very well and led the hostilities. Thuringer tried to come back, but Joao Ferreira's girls had a strong response and looked to be heading for a clear victory. When the hosts missed two simple actions to score, this feeling became even more meaningful.

However, Herbert Muller's players made a spectacular comeback in the last 10 minutes. After leading 26-22, Thuringer went on an 8-1 run to make it 30-27. Ferreira did not ask for a time-out in time, and his handball players made more and more mistakes.

However, Minaur did not give up, took advantage of some controversial refereeing decisions and equalized several times, including with 30 seconds left when Nikoletta Papp scored off a pass from Teodora Damian. Muller called time-out and, seconds before the end, Reichert scored the winning goal: 33-32.
