Extremely happy for the new challenge, the Romanian international told how he ended up signing with Costel Gâlcă's team, how he received the news regarding Rapid's interest, but also about the hardest period of his career, the injury suffered in 2024, which made him miss the participation in the European Championship in Germany.
The attacking midfielder will be presented in a conference alongside Constantin Gâlcă, the coach of Rapid. The event will take place on Saturday, from 15:30.

“I've been waiting for this moment for two weeks, I'm really happy that I'm here now. It was a long time when I sat and thought about Rapid's offer, I felt from the first a very good sign from Rapid. When I saw that we advanced in the discussions, I also wanted to come here.
I was surprised to be wanted by Rapid, I didn't expect their offer. When I heard about Rapid, I was happy for this offer. I wanted to have stability, I spoke with Mr. Angelescu, it was a first phone call in which he explained Rapid, I was surprised and wanted to continue the negotiations. Since I arrived in Romania I haven't stayed for a second.
I'm glad that the tests came out very well, I'm ready for the game. From tomorrow I will be with them in training and I am happy to see a united group, some players supporting each other and hopefully we can perform this year. I know several players from the national youth team, with Manea, with Ciobi. I haven't talked to any colleagues, from tomorrow I will integrate with them and I will have more stories with them.
I want to show everyone that I'm not a player at the end of my career, I want to get my form back and work for this club. Together we will have beautiful results. When I was in the country, I was very young, I was not mature, but after a few years when you are away you think differently. I think I am more motivated, I want to progress, that made me ambitious abroad.
The hardest period was after the injury, I worked a lot to recover, to be in good shape, it was almost two very hard years. If it was someone else, I don't think they would have survived what I went through, but I wanted it, I said that the time will come to be 100%/ I'm on the way to 100%, now I need matches on my feet and after that I hope to be free.
I have never played here, but now I will have the opportunity and I hope to do well and make the fans happy. I can't wait to join the team, I'm eager to be in the group, I don't have time to settle down, we have a match on Monday, I hope we get a very good result and stay in the fight for the title”, said Olimpiu Moruțan, in the first interview given to Rapid, after signing the contract valid for one and a half years.
