Last weekend in Krasnoyarsk, more than two dozen drivers failed a sobriety test by traffic police officers. This was reported to the State Traffic Inspectorate.
The raids took place in different areas of Krasnoyarsk, as well as at out-of-town destinations. As a result of mass checks, police detained 21 motorists who got behind the wheel while intoxicated. Moreover, four of them had previously been prosecuted for driving while intoxicated.
Now violators who were repeatedly caught drunk driving face criminal liability under Article 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The rest will face deprivation of rights for up to two years and a fine of 45 thousand rubles.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds that alcohol intoxication is often a concomitant factor in road accidents with serious consequences. On frosty days, police recommend that Krasnoyarsk residents find another way to stay warm, or stop driving.
