The newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” (12+) on January 6, 1939, in the section “Across our region” wrote that the theater named after. L. M. Kaganovich for the first time during its existence went to the center of the Stalinsky (now Oktyabrsky) district, the village of Amurzet, on tour.

The same newspaper published that the repair shop of the Lozoweaver artel had made a children's chair from waste and that soon comfortable and beautiful children's chairs would appear on the Birobidzhan market.

The article by N. Vershin, “The Cheerful Holidays of Soviet Children,” tells how school students celebrated the New Year’s party (0+). The article gives an example that at school No. 8, soldiers from a sponsored Red Army unit arrived and showed the children an amateur concert (6+). The guys responded with a performance and 5th grade student Osokina read the epic “About Lenin” (6+). At school No. 1, one of the high school students, dressed up as Santa Claus, told the children about the old days “about the hard life of working children in old, tsarist Russia and about a happy childhood in the Soviet country. Then he selected New Year’s gifts from his decorated bag and gave them to the children.

On December 31, high school students from city schools had fun at their New Year's masquerade (0+). In the brightly decorated school club there were many flowers, electric lights were burning brightly, but everyone’s eyes were attracted by the beautiful, elegant Christmas tree. The students prepared about 30 original costumes. In schools No. 8, 9, 10, recreation rooms for children are open. A sanatorium has been opened at the city boarding school. Trade union organizations have allocated over 3 thousand rubles for its maintenance. 32 of the best students rest in the sanatorium.

The city cinema offers daytime children's screenings. City children's shooting competitions will take place on January 9 and 10.

The same newspaper also writes that after repairs, a club car (12+) began running along the 1st branch of the Far Eastern Railway, where railway workers and members of their families watch films at sidings and field stations.

The same newspaper tells readers that the first regional school sports competition (0+) has ended, in which 55 students from 7 schools in the region took part and contains information that “the best athletes were awarded certificates, tokens and valuable gifts. The challenge red banner of the regional Komsomol committee and the regional committee for physical education and sports was won by school No. 1, whose students took first place in the competition.”

The newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” (12+) on January 6, 1978 wrote about the development of healthcare in the Jewish Autonomous Region, citing figures and facts: “state spending on healthcare in our region annually amounts to about 10 million rubles. In the region there are 30 hospitals with a total number of beds of 2530, nine antenatal clinics and 14 children’s clinics, 29 paramedic health centers, 82 paramedic and obstetric stations, 29 dental offices, 22 x-ray diagnostic rooms, eight sanitary and epidemiological stations. New standard buildings for hospitals were built in the villages of Smidovich, Nikolaevka, Teploozersk, Khingansk, in the villages of Birofeld, Dubovoe, Bidzhan, Leninskoye, Amurzet. A clinic for 500 visits per shift and a children's hospital were built in Birobidzhan. “Over four thousand doctors, paramedics, nurses, and pharmacists work in healthcare institutions of the region of all departments.”

The same newspaper informs its readers that in Birobidzhan, in the sports hall of the Stroitel stadium, competitions for young tennis players from the Far East have begun for the 15th Spartakiad of RSFSR schoolchildren (0+). “Teams from the Yakut, Buryat Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, Chita and Amur regions, Primorsky and Khabarovsk territories entered into a dispute for prize places. They included many talented tennis players who have repeatedly competed in important competitions.”
