The American politician leaves no stone unturned on Trump. “It's possible he's that stupid.”

Adam Smith, a Democrat from Washington and member of the Armed Services Committee of the United States House of Representatives, sharply criticized Donald Trump, accusing him of unshakable belief in everything that comes out of Vladimir Putin's mouth.
Congressman Adam Smith sharply criticized the US president for these words, leaving no stone unturned.
He said that “it's possible that Trump is just stupid enough” to believe it.
– It's rather obvious that [Rosjanie] they are lying about it, he told CNN. — [Kreml] he wanted to destroy the peace process and convince Trump that [prezydent Wołodymyr] Zelensky is a bigger problem here. And President Trump's profound ignorance of not seeing this and not understanding who Putin is and what he is doing at this moment is very discouraging. This undermines the possibility of achieving peace, he added.
No evidence
Volodymyr Zelensky responded to these accusations on Tuesday. He stated that Kiev's allies have the opportunity to verify the alleged drone attack on Putin's residence and convince themselves that these accusations are false.
— Regarding the attack on Valdai, our negotiation team contacted the American team, they analyzed the details and we know it is a fake. Of course, our partners can always verify this using their technical capabilities, he told reporters.
The Kyiv Post investigative team analyzed the Kremlin's claims and found no evidence that there was an attack on Putin's residence on the night from Sunday to Monday.

Many people in Washington, including former US ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink, couldn't believe that Trump had simply accepted Putin's narrative. — There is no evidence that there was an attack. And the fact that the US president believes the words of a brutal dictator and not our democratic ally is precisely the problem. (…) You have to wonder why our president takes such a position, said Bridget Brink in an interview with CNN
Smith went even further. -Let's be clear about this. There are really only two possibilities here, and neither of them are very appealing. One of them is that Trump is an idiot, he still doesn't understand what Putin is talking about, and that he wants to completely control all of Ukraine, and the only way to end this war is to support Ukraine and clearly show Putin that he will not achieve this. Maybe Trump is just that stupid, he said.
— It's also possible that he has a different view of the world – one that assumes that the strong get what they want. Trump talks about how the Western Hemisphere should be dominated by the United States, tries to bring about regime change in Venezuela, threatens Greenland, Panama and Canada, and maybe this is simply his worldview. That Putin is a strong man and can take whatever he wants, and it is not our problem, he added.
Kremlin campaign
Although there is no evidence confirming the Ukrainian attack on Putin's residence, this does not bother the Kremlin – it has already started a spiral of allegations and accusations against Kiev. He initiated a large-scale propaganda campaign. Propaganda TV channels are full of programs in which “experts” comment on the alleged attack, accusing Ukraine of “officially declaring war on Russia” and the West of supporting Kiev in these attacks, including: weapons.
However, so far the Kremlin has not presented any evidence that would confirm the alleged attack. He also did not specify how many drones would be sent to the Novgorod Oblast (the Ministry of Defense's version was inconsistent with the version of the Russian news agency TASS).
Matthew Whitaker, the US representative to NATO, said in an interview with Fox Business that “it is unclear whether this actually happened.” He added, however, that it is unlikely that Ukraine would decide to launch such an attack while peace negotiations are ongoing. – We will get to the bottom of the matter thanks to the interview – he announced.
