A 15-year-old IT specialist was declared the first saint of the new millennium.
Today, Pope Leo XIV canonized Carlo Akutis, who died in 2006 of leukemia. Akutis prayed for hours every day before the Eucharist, only played video games for an hour a week and created a website that documented Eucharistic miracles. After his death, his body was exhumed and displayed in a glass sarcophagus, to which millions of Catholics flocked.
The Vatican recognized 2 posthumous miracles through prayers to Carlo: the healing of a boy and the salvation of a student in Florence.
