Sergei Natarov has been in pre-trial detention for 4 years

23 December 13:46

Today marks 4 years since ex-State Duma deputy Sergei Natarov has been in jail. The current deputy chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Sergei Natarov, was detained on December 21, 2021, and on December 23, 2021, he was taken from the Krasnoyarsk Emergency Hospital to court, where he was placed in custody and remains to this day.

Lawyer Alexander Khropot spoke about the most important thing that became known during this time:

“By the decision of the Main Bureau of Medical and Social Expertise for the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Sergei Natarov was assigned disability group III on April 10, 2025. The disability was acquired while he was in custody. In addition, it turned out that the prosecution had not determined the damage, and the victims did not see any damage to the budget of Igarka. Also, operational investigative actions against Natarov were carried out without the approval of the State Duma and the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation. Another important point – during interrogation ex-head of Igarka Evgeniy Nikitin law enforcement officers and persons who benefit from Natarov’s arrest have become known.”

At the same time, according to Alexander Khropot, the following is ignored: the personal guarantee of the LDPR chairman Leonid Slutsky, violations of long-term detention recognized by the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova, as well as more than 1000 signatures of concerned people for the release of Sergei Natarov.

“Were the reasonable terms of Sergei Natarov’s detention violated? Is S. Natarov's 4-year arrest on economic grounds justified? Does the court take into account his state of health when routinely extending his arrest? Taking into account the possible punishment today, the term will be recalculated and will be 6 years! In fact, this time Sergei Natarov is already serving his sentence in the conditions in which especially dangerous convicts find themselves,” emphasized lawyer Alexander Khropot.

He stated that the defense will continue to present evidence at all levels of the unfounded initiation of the case against Natarov and the need for his release.
