Krasnoyarsk wrestlers won 24 medals at the tournament in memory of Dmitry Mindiashvili

IN All-Russian freestyle wrestling competitions in memory of the Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation, Honored Trainer of the USSR Dmitry Mindiashvili ended in Krasnoyarsk, reported the Ministry of Sports of the region.

The tournament was held for the fifth time at the Dmitry Mindiashvili Wrestling Academy. Participated in the competition 212 athletes – 160 men and 52 women – out of 16 regions of Russia: Buryatia, Dagestan, Yakutia, Tyva, Khakassia, Chuvashia, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk, Perm and Khabarovsk territories, Amur, Irkutsk, Kemerovo, Novosibirsk and Orenburg regions.

“In the men’s tournament, the battle for gold flared up primarily between the wrestlers of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Yakutia. In many ways, its outcome was predetermined by the final match in the 125 kg weight class, in which Krasnoyarsk Kirill Shkredov lost to Yakut athlete Nikita Sofronov. As a result, out of ten gold medals, four were won by Yakutia, and three by the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Wrestlers from Chuvashia, Moscow and Dagestan won one each. In the women's tournament, the gold medal was shared by representatives of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Buryatia – four victories each. One gold medal each went to the Perm Territory and the Irkutsk Region,” the press service of the Ministry of Sports clarified.

In total, wrestlers from the Krasnoyarsk Territory won 24 medals in the tournament – 7 gold, 6 silver and 11 bronze. Among Krasnoyarsk residents, Tatyana Novik (55 kg), Dinara Kudaeva (65 kg), Khanum Velieva (68 kg), Valeria Trifonova (76 kg), Artur Chebodaev (57 kg), Nikita Suchkov (86 kg) and Dmitry Zainidinov (92 kg) celebrated the victory.

Among the honored guests of the tournament was Natalya Yarygina, first vice-president of the Russian Wrestling Federation, vice-president of the United World of Wrestling.

Note that INSer-Russian competition in memory of Dmitry Mindiashvili became for Krasnoyarsk athletes the main stage of selection for the Ivan Yarygin Cup, whichit will pass in Krasnoyarsk from January 29 to February 1, 2026.
