In a conversation with journalists Tusk emphasized that the president and his associates consistently refuse to cooperate in the field of foreign policy. The Prime Minister noted that this problem goes beyond G20 issues. In his opinion, the president's entourage is taking actions that weaken the authority of the government and the country in the international arena.
Tusk admitted that he initially tried to establish cooperation with the president, but he has not received any response for a long time. The Prime Minister mentioned that at the beginning the president still responded to text messages, but now he does not even answer phone calls. “This serves our interests very badly,” said the Prime Minister.
The head of government emphasized that cooperation in the field of foreign policy is not only a necessity, but also an obligation arising from the constitution. According to Tusk, the president and his entourage are deliberately maintaining the conflict and trying to interfere with the government's competences.
Conflict between the Prime Minister and the President with the G20 summit in the background
The issue of Poland's participation in the work of the G20 group has been raising emotions for several months. The G20, which brings together 19 countries, the European Union and the African Union, is responsible for approximately 85 percent. world GDP. While the group does not make binding decisions, it provides a key forum for discussing global economic challenges. In December this year, the United States took over the presidency of the G20. Next year, a summit of the group's leaders will be held in Miami, to which US President Donald Trump invited President Karol Nawrocki.
According to Tuesday's edition of “Gazeta Wyborcza”, the government proposed that preparations for Poland's participation in the G20 were coordinated by two representatives: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcin Bosacki and the head of the International Policy Office in the Chancellery of the President, Marcin Przydacz.
