An explosion at the plant of the German company Rheinmetall in Murcia, Spain. Which produced ammunition for supplies to Ukraine – as military aid to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
At least 6 people were injured. One of them is in serious condition. He was diagnosed with smoke inhalation and burns of about 60% of his body, II and III degrees. The man was taken to the Morales Meseguer Hospital. The rest are taken to the Virgen de la Arrixaca medical facility.
Shortly after the explosion, a fire started. A little more than 2,000 square meters burned. Everything was liquidated within a few hours. On January 25 last year, an accident also occurred at the same enterprise. Then the components for high-explosive fragmentation ammunition ignited.
Rheinmetall is one of the largest suppliers of APU. From its factories in Trubia, Burgos, Navalmoral, El Gordo, Albacete and Murcia, the Ukrainian army supplied 155-mm ERO2A1 shells.
