The former selector of the U21 representative of the Romanian national team signed with the team from Gruia at the end of October, but the main coach during this period was George Ciorceri (70 years old), PRO license holder.

Daniel Pancu is the third coach of CFR Cluj this season, which started with Dan Petrescu on the bench, later replaced by Andrea Mandorlini.
Daniel Pancu debuted with a victory on the CFR bench, 1-0 away against Unirea Slobozia, and then achieved a surprising result in the first match at home, 1-0 against the leader Rapid.
The situation then got complicated in the away game from FC Argeș, lost to CFR Cluj on a no-show score, culminating in a draw in the Romanian Cup, 2-2 away to Metaloglobus.
In the epilogue of the 19th stage, CFR obtained an important point away from Craiova University, score 1-1, a match in which goalkeeper Otto Hindrich had 10 interventions.
With 11 stages left in the regular season, CFR Cluj has less and less chances to catch the play-off. The title vice-champion is only in 11th place, with 20 points, 7 behind the last place holder leading to the play-off, Oțelul Galati.
In this calendar year, CFR Cluj still has two matches to play, both in the Superliga, at home with Csikszereda and away with the revelation FC Botoșani.
