Reuters reported that Assad “evacuated” the estate with the Embraer Legacy 600 aircraft, which within two days before the fall of the regime made several flights to the United Arab Emirates and returned to Syria.

The agency talked to 14 Syrian sources with information about this process. Reuters failed to determine if Assad managed the property export surgery, but the sources emphasized that the mission would be impossible without “blessing” from the former leader.

On December 6, the aircraft made two cruises, and Syria was left by family members and associates Assad. The machine was transported by money, paintings and small sculptures. In the evening of the next day, the plane was loaded with black bags full of cash. There were also hard drives and electronic equipment on board, on which the finances and real estate data were located.

On December 8, when the rebels entered Damascus, the airport in the capital stopped working, and Assad fled to Latakia in the west of Syria. A plane rented by his adviser at that time flew out of Abu Dhabi and landed at the Russian Humajmim base. One of the Assad's colleagues from 500,000 flew from Syria. USD in cash.

Assad, whose location was hidden until the last moment even from his family, flew to Russia on December 8, where he received political asylum.

The rule of Bashar Al-Assad, Moscow's ally, was overthrown in December 2024 by the rebel forces, which currently exercise power in Syria.

The new authorities are going to regain public funds taken on the eve of the fall of the regime to support the country's economy – one of the representatives of the Syrian authorities told the agency. The authorities do not know how many resources the previous leader took from Syria. (PAP)
