

The State Department spoke about a number of agreements signed after negotiations between top officials by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Among them is cooperation in the field of nuclear energy, in particular, the construction of ten small modular reactors, as well as spent fuel storage.

Budapest signed a $114 million agreement with Westinghouse (USA) for the supply of nuclear fuel. In addition, Hungary has committed to purchasing $600 million worth of liquefied natural gas and $700 million worth of American defense products from the United States.
The day before, Orban said that he had obtained from Trump an exemption from US sanctions regarding the supply of Russian fuel through the Druzhba oil pipeline and the Turkish Stream gas pipeline.
