The police arrested a 41-year-old construction entrepreneur from Podhale on charges of stealing construction machinery. They seized equipment worth PLN 750,000 from him. PLN and Ferrari. He was taken into custody, the Małopolska police reported. The case is related to the dismantling of a criminal group smuggling machines.

The investigation is conducted under the supervision of the Kraków-Prądnik Biały District Prosecutor's Office. The detained owner of a large construction company from Podhale was allegedly purchasing and using stolen equipment in his business activities.

“The value of the recovered machines is estimated at approximately PLN 750,000. The man was charged with intentional stolen goods, which is punishable by up to 10 years in prison. By decision of the prosecutor's office, he was temporarily arrested for three months,” said Asp. Anna Zbroja-Zagórska from the Małopolska police.

A Ferrari worth more than one million zlotys was also seized to cover future fines.

For several months, the police have been conducting operations against an organized criminal group smuggling construction machinery and other valuable goods. The officers established and identified connections between the group members and recovered construction machinery – including excavators, loaders, telehandlers and forklifts – with a total value of over PLN 4 million in the following counties: Myślenice, Kraków, Wieliczka and Nowy Targ.

The last action, carried out on October 16, involved 60 officers from Małopolska, including police officers from Kraków, Nowy Targ and Zakopane. Earlier, two people were arrested in connection with this case. Several luxury cars were seized from one of them, including three vintage ones: a Ferrari, a Porsche and a Mustang. Some vehicles had forged VIN identification numbers.

The police announce further arrests.
