It’s a must for all ficus trees in October: I add a pinch to the soil and within a month young leaves appear even on “bald” branches

October is not the time to forget about ficus trees. After summer, they often lose their lower leaves, growth slows down, and the plant seems to “fall asleep.” But in fact, the ficus is preparing for a new round of growth; it simply does not have enough calcium and trace elements to form healthy foliage.

  • Take eggshells from 2-3 eggs. Rinse well, dry and crush into fine crumbs.
  • Add this crumb directly into the top layer of soil. About 1 teaspoon per medium sized pot.
  • Gently mix with soil and water as usual.

Eggshells are an excellent source of calcium, which strengthens the cell walls of leaves and stimulates the formation of new shoots. At the same time, it does not cause burns to the roots and releases nutrients within several weeks.

Repeat the procedure once a month in October and November. By December you will notice: small light green buds appear on the “bare” branches, and the old leaves become glossy and elastic.

The main thing is not to put the shells in whole pieces: they must be crushed, otherwise they will decompose too slowly. And do not mix with nitrogen fertilizers, since calcium is better absorbed in a neutral environment.

Such simple care will help your ficus survive the winter and meet spring with a lush, healthy crown.

Question and answer:

How to stimulate ficus leaf growth in autumn?
Add crushed eggshells to the top layer of soil. Calcium strengthens plant tissue and promotes the formation of new shoots.

How many shells should I add to the pot?
For a pot with a diameter of 15–20 cm, 1 teaspoon of finely crushed shells is enough.

Can I use raw eggshells?
No, it needs to be thoroughly washed and dried to avoid smell and mold in the pot.
